Updated CUE poster (special Jubilee edition!) that will be up shortly in the Blue Note club. I’m happy with the way the Union Jack turned out. Though I’ll be kind of happy when the Jubilee is over as seeing so many Union Jacks around everywhere and every conceivable way of turning patriotism into advertising is starting to grate somewhat.
Just wondering around supermarkets seeing signs saying how perfect something would be for the Jubilee, etc. On the otherhand though, some of the special edi..

This is the poster we ended up going with, its nothing especially glamourous, but lets people know the opening times and prices we have on offer. I’ll be working a bit more on some more individual pieces to get up for facebook events.
I’m not sure if its the angle of the curve on the top text, but for some reason the whole thing just reminds me of Heinz Baked Beans.

First draft of a poster I was doing for The Blue Note Jubilee Weekend. Unfortunately we chose not to use it as it isnt really with the feel of the club anymore. Based off of the Sex Pistols “God Save the Queen” record cover, but with up to date image of the Queen.
Basicly we desided it was too dark, and refered too much to Punk/Rock/Alt music, which the club sadly doesnt play anymore since needing to go more mainstream to keep customers.

So I figured I’d try break away from the nightmare doodles and did this little nature doodle, started off with flowers around the borders, created the bird in the middle and just slowly worked inwards (I have quite an illogical order of drawing things).
I might work into this at a later date, making the shading darker, and filling in more negative space, but I’m quite happy with this as something working away from my usual subject matters.
Incidently, it was apparently international doo..

Final look of the Mish Mash poster, (what I was hoping to call Mish Mashtodon - in reference to the old Monday night Tyrannosaurus ROCKS! night that Blue Note use to do).
I’m enjoying doing vector/pop arty style at the moment. That and pre-historic animals.

Second version of the poster as per instructions from my manager. Not totally happy with the blue as it makes the poster as a whole less striking. Green/Yellow/Blue all complement each other nicely, which means the poster just kind of blends together.
One thing I like to do is get 2 colours that glaringly contrast with each other, such as the neon pink (which to be fair, contrasts with pretty much anything you care to put it next to!)
A major annoyance I have with Illustrator… how it does..

First version of the new MISHMASH night at the Blue Note, I was also working on a Mastadon to include in the picture and link it in with the older poster for Tyranosaurus rocks. However I’ve steadly ended up doing far far too many hours at both the places I work and losing any grasp of free time. So this is a bit of a temp job as it needed doing for last (Wednesday) night.
I was happy with the main text though, I made it myself in Illustrator and am steadily making a full alphabet out of it as ..

The 1st image is of the Crown of England surrounded by diamonds for an article on the extra Bank Holiday we get in 2012 thanks to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee (Hurray!)
The second is a credit card flying quickly… as the HMRC now accept faster payments.
The 3rd image is meant to be an iPhone 4, but honestly most smart phones are looking so genericl..
