Banks Mill  Open Studios 2011!

Every year Banks Mill Studios open their doors to the public and offer visitors the opportunity to meet and buy from the artists and makers. To view and explore the unique concentration of talent spanning a vast range of creative practices, from fine art, glassware, jewellery and ceramics to photography, graphic and web design, weaving, fashion and textiles.

Now in its 12th year Banks Mill Open Studios are firmly established as a key date in Derby’s cultural calendar and its shopping calendar too. This year the Open Studios event takes place from the 25 November to the 27 November.

More than 50 creative businesses pull together to offer a display of some of the finest art and artistic products in Derby. 5 floors, 38 Studios all packed with interest, talent and intrigue.

The event is free, all the work on display is for sale, if you have an interest in art or are looking for a special Christmas gift we guarantee you’ll be surprised and delighted by what you explore and discover.

The event will take place at Banks Mill Studios, 71 Bridge Street, Derby on Friday 25 November 5 – 8pm, Saturday 26 November (10am – 4pm) and Sunday 27 November (10am – 4pm).

Friday night is live music night; join us from 5pm to 8pm for a glass of wine. The weekend takes on a more family friendly feel with children’s activities, goodie bags and face painting.

Banks Mill is one of four incubator units run by the University of Derby. Banks Mill exists to support the development of new businesses in the creative industries offering studio space to fledgling businesses. It provides subsidised rent to artists, makers and designers that is backed up by a comprehensive range of support services, which are tailored to meet each practitioner’s individual needs.
