The Pennyhangers are a 4 piece indie rock band from Leicester. The band started out in 2007 as a trio, but it was not until late 2008 that they were completed when a new lead guitarist joined the mix. A mixture of school, internet forums and sheer luck pulled the band together. Having played in most live music venues in Leicester including De Montfort University Union, The Musician, The Charlotte and the Glastonbudget festival, they have also played venues such as The Monto Water Rats in London and The Cavern in Liverpool. As well as doing their own gigs they also host their own live music night at Superfly: ‘The Pennyhangers Presents…’ which regularly draws in crowds of well over 500, an EP planned for release at the end of the year and with bigger and better gigs planned this is looking like its going to be a very good year for The Pennyhangers.
