SHOW ME PICTURES showmepictures
SHOW ME PICTURES is a photography/art blog which hopes to engage and excite the creative senses. The primary focus of the blog is on photography but art and film pop up occasionally too!
SMP is currently going through a transition from solely internet based into the world of printed publications. The aim is to create a high quality, small scale production showcasing brilliant photography from both emerging and established names. Informative and thought provoking essays will accompany the work, along with an interview or two maybe!
I am looking for submissions of bodies of work/portfolios, with a description of said work, to showmepictures@live.com for consideration for both the blog and the printed publication. Do submit!
Thank you,
Michael Sargeant

A while ago I came across this great video on Simon Norfolk’s latest work in Afghanistan, Burke & Norfolk. I’ve just re-watched it and wanted to share it, it’s really insightful and thought provoking and we can really get Norfolk’s views on the war and motivations for the project.
Burke and Norfolk brings together the work of John Burke and Norfolk himself. John Burke’s photographs of the Second Afghan War of 1878-1880 were among the first ever taken in Afghanist..

Jörg Brüggemann’s series Same Same But Different explores the global phenomenon of backpacking. Becoming increasingly popular amongst younger generations over the last decade, millions of young people from first world countries are travelling across the planet taking with them little more than their backpacks. They hope to find freedom, adventure and unforgettable experiences in far away lands and cultures. In his statement Brüggemann suggests backpacking has become a “g..

Michael Ziebarth makes the ordinary appear strange in his series Waiting. Taken across Australia, Ziebath’s images of abandoned basketball courts, cactus gardens and driveways capture the strangeness of the suburbs. Shot in the eerie light of overcast days his photographs appear as if from a dream or alternate reality, where the natural appears constructed and the constructed natural.
I find it interesting when these two elements meet in Ziebarth’s images. They e..
